Samsung Electronics has announced its participation as a founding member of the AI-RAN Alliance, with the aim of driving 6G innovation by integrating AI technology with wireless communication technology. The alliance, officially launched at Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2024, is focused on revitalizing the convergence of AI and wireless communication to lead technology innovation through collaboration with key industry players.

The AI-RAN Alliance comprises eleven organizations, including Samsung, Arm, Ericsson, Microsoft, Nokia, NVIDIA, SoftBank, and Northeastern University. Together, these founding members will work on developing innovative technologies and applying them to commercial products in preparation for the upcoming 6G era.

The alliance's goal is to leverage AI and wireless communication technologies across various fields, create an ecosystem, and expand opportunities for new businesses. It has established three working groups - AI for RAN, AI and RAN, and AI on RAN - to conduct technical research and drive advancements in spectrum efficiency, resource management, infrastructure utilization, and new AI applications and services in wireless networks.

Samsung, known for its expertise in AI and wireless communication solutions, aims to lead technological convergence and service innovation through its involvement in the AI-RAN Alliance.
