The upcoming auction by Christie's is set to feature two love letters written by Eric Clapton to Pattie Boyd during their love triangle with George Harrison. These letters offer a glimpse into the early stages of their romance, shedding light on the complexities of their relationships.

In one letter dated 1970, Clapton questions Boyd about her feelings towards her husband and himself, urging her to clarify her emotions. He expresses his desire for honesty and asks for reassurance about her love for him.

The second letter, written on a torn page from a John Steinbeck novel, sees Clapton addressing Boyd as 'Layla,' a nickname that later inspired his iconic song. In this letter, he pleads for clarity on their relationship, expressing his love and devotion to her.

Boyd, a model icon, first met Harrison in 1964 and married him in 1966. However, amid marital issues, she grew close to Clapton, leading to their eventual relationship. Boyd eventually left Harrison for Clapton in 1974, with the couple marrying in 1979.
