As the new Formula 1 season kicks off in Bahrain this weekend, American driver Logan Sargeant is gearing up for his second year with Williams, following a challenging rookie season. Sargeant faced high expectations to secure his seat for another season, with team principal James Vowles emphasizing the need for improved physical fitness, approach, and performance.

During the offseason, Sargeant focused on enhancing his physical condition, adding over 11 pounds of muscle to better handle the car. In his debut season, he scored only one point at the U.S. Grand Prix, while his teammate Alex Albon accumulated 27 points, finishing 13th in the driver standings.

Despite a challenging start in F1, Sargeant is optimistic about the upcoming season, especially with the anticipated improvements in the car's drivability. Both Albon and Vowles believe that the new FW46 will be more driver-friendly, providing Sargeant with a platform to showcase his experience and skills.

Vowles has advised Sargeant to approach the season cautiously, focusing on gradual progress rather than rushing for immediate success. The team is hopeful that the changes made over the winter will allow Sargeant to adapt quicker and perform better in 2023.

Reflecting on his rookie year, Sargeant highlighted the physical and mental toll the season took on him, prompting him to reevaluate his approach and make necessary improvements. With a record 24 races scheduled for this year, Sargeant is determined to manage himself better and maintain peak performance throughout the demanding season.
