Timothée Chalamet has embarked on his journey to portray Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s upcoming biopic, 'A Complete Unknown.' The 28-year-old actor was recently seen on the set in New York City, embodying the iconic musician. In images captured by PEOPLE, Chalamet sported a '60s-inspired ensemble, complete with jeans, a green jacket, an orange scarf, a paperboy hat, and a yellow backpack, while carrying a weathered guitar case.

The biopic is set to delve into Dylan's controversial shift to the electric guitar in the 1960s and his rise to folk music stardom. Mangold confirmed that Chalamet will be singing in character as Dylan, adding another musical accomplishment to his repertoire following 'Wonka.'

Mangold expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the captivating narrative of a young Bob Dylan's rapid ascent to fame after arriving in New York with minimal resources. The film will also feature prominent figures from the era such as Woody Guthrie, Joan Baez, and Pete Seeger, each playing a significant role in the storyline.

Edward Norton has joined the cast as folk singer Seeger, taking over from Benedict Cumberbatch due to scheduling conflicts. Elle Fanning is set to portray Sylvie Russo, Dylan's romantic interest in the biopic.

Chalamet's dedication to the role was evident as he visited Dylan's high school in Hibbing, Minnesota, for research purposes. During his time there, he engaged with the Hibbing High School drama department, discussing acting and theater with the students who were preparing for a production.

The school's drama department shared their excitement about the visit, noting that Chalamet was a delight to interact with and that his presence seemed to inspire the students, who delivered a stellar final dress rehearsal following his departure.
